Description
These contemporary aluminium driveway gates use a gently sweeping high-middle profile, where the top rail curves upward toward the centre before dropping smoothly to the outer edges. The result is an elegant, dynamic silhouette that softens a modern facade without leaning into traditional ornament.
The upper section is filled with widely spaced vertical bars, letting light through and framing views of the property beyond. Below the mid-line, the design transitions into a solid tongue-and-groove aluminium panel that runs across the full width of both leaves, giving privacy at eye level for pedestrians while keeping the overall gate visually light.
The double-leaf format opens centrally with a discreet meeting stile, and the whole gate is finished in a deep matt black powder coat. That finish reads clean and modern against light render, stone or brick pillars, and holds up to UK weather without repainting.
Every gate is made to your driveway’s exact height and width, so the curve of the top rail and the panel-to-bar proportions stay balanced whatever the opening size.
The gentle upward sweep of the top rail is subtle enough that it reads as a soft curve rather than a pronounced arch, which is what keeps this design firmly on the contemporary side of the line rather than crossing into traditional territory. The solid tongue-and-groove base does the practical work of screening pedestrians and low-angle views, while the open bar section keeps the overall gate feeling lighter than a full-height privacy panel would. This design works particularly well for properties set back only slightly from the road, where full privacy at eye level matters but the owner still wants to preserve some sightline through the entrance. Set against pale render, the black frame draws a strong architectural line; against darker brick, the same design reads more as a unified dark silhouette.
