Description

These traditional aluminium driveway gates take a railing-style approach: a straight top rail runs across both leaves, with each vertical bar finished in a small tapered spear finial that projects just above the rail line. The effect is period in character but restrained rather than ornate — well suited to Georgian, Edwardian and Victorian frontages, or contemporary properties looking for a classical touch without heavy detailing.

The vertical bars are spaced evenly and run the full height of the gate, keeping views through the entrance open and letting light into the driveway from either side. There is no lower kick-plate or infill panel, and no decorative scrollwork through the body — the design reads as a straightforward railing translated into gate form.

The double-leaf configuration opens centrally on a slim meeting stile with a traditional drop-bolt and handle. A deep matt black powder coat wraps every bar and finial, holding its colour against brick, painted render and stone pillars alike.

Manufactured to your exact opening dimensions, with the bar count and finial spacing recalculated per order so the railing rhythm reads consistently.

The choice of small tapered spear finials rather than more elaborate cast tops keeps the design firmly on the railing side of the traditional gate spectrum rather than the ornamental side. That restraint is precisely what makes the style adaptable — a heavily ornate finial choice would restrict the design to genuinely period properties, while these smaller spears sit comfortably against a much broader range of house styles, from restored Victorian townhouses to contemporary new-builds designed to nod at classical detailing. The full openwork of the design also means it works well where preserving the view into or out of the driveway matters — for example, on properties with landscaped front gardens the owner wants to remain visible from the road. Compared with arched-top traditional gates, this design reads as more restrained and less formal, making it a good choice where the entrance is meant to feel welcoming rather than statement-making.
