Timber shrinks and shifts, brickwork settles, and the gap you started with is often not the gap you have now. That is why every side gate we build starts with your three measurements — top, middle and bottom of the opening — so the finished gate fits the actual gap rather than an assumed standard size. The hinge, latch and lock positions are all set to your specific configuration at the same time.

As a general guide, allow around 30mm wider than your physical gate measurement for the aperture — this gives enough clearance for the hinge plate and lock keep without leaving a gap someone could reach through. We will walk you through this when you call.
