Balcony and terrace railings are a safety matter wherever there’s a meaningful drop below. As a general guide, railings on a raised balcony or terrace should be taller than a garden boundary railing, and the gaps between bars should be close enough that a small child couldn’t climb through or get a head caught between them. Planning Permission for Railings
The same general rule that applies to garden fences applies to railings: next to a road, railings over roughly a metre tall usually need planning permission, and elsewhere the threshold is normally around two metres. Conservation areas can have tighter rules again. Worth a quick check with your local authority before you order anything unusually tall facing the street.

Yes. We manufacture aluminium railing panels to follow gradients, slopes and stepped runs. The panel is built to your measured rake or stepped profile so the top and bottom rails follow the line of the ground rather than sitting level.
What spindle or bar spacing options are available?
Spindle centres and bar spacing are made to your specification, subject to the dimensional limits of the chosen section. We can match existing railings or work to a required gap for safety, security or appearance, including closer centres for child-safe or pet-safe runs.
What panel heights do you offer for aluminium railing?
Aluminium railing panels are made to measure, so height is built to your requirement rather than limited to fixed increments. Common boundary heights range from around 900mm to 1.8m, but we confirm exact panel height with you before production.
Can aluminium railing be powder coated in any colour?
Yes. Aluminium railing is powder coated in any RAL colour. Matt black and anthracite grey are popular finishes; other colours are available on request. A polyester powder coat is applied as a standard painted finish over the prepared aluminium surface.
Can posts be set into concrete, or do they need base plates?
Both fixing methods are possible. Posts can be supplied for casting directly into concrete foundations, or with welded base plates for bolting to an existing wall, plinth or concrete pad. The method depends on your site and whether the base is existing or new.
How is aluminium railing fixed between existing brick piers or walls?
Panels are supplied to your measured opening width and fixed to the piers or walls using suitable brackets or fixings appropriate to the substrate. We confirm the fixing detail with you before production, including any allowance needed for brackets or packers.
Can aluminium railing be matched to an existing aluminium gate?
Yes. Because panels are made to order, we can match the top and bottom rail profiles, spindle or bar centres, and powder coat colour to an existing aluminium gate — provided the original sections are still available or a visually compatible section is acceptable to you.
