Description

These contemporary aluminium driveway gates flip the usual arrangement, placing the decorative element at the top rather than the base. The upper third of each leaf features a diagonal cross-lattice band, formed from intersecting bars that create a repeating diamond pattern. It lets light and glimpses of the property through without full transparency.

The lower two-thirds of each leaf are a solid vertical-slat panel with fine linear grooves between each plank. That treatment gives full privacy at pedestrian eye level and grounds the design visually, keeping the lattice band feeling like a deliberate architectural detail rather than the whole story.

The double-leaf swing format opens centrally on a discreet meeting stile, with the horizontal division between lattice and slat panel forming the primary design line across both gates. A deep matt black powder coat wraps the whole assembly, reading confidently against rendered, timber-framed or brick surroundings.

Built to your driveway’s exact opening dimensions, with the lattice band and slat panel scaled together so the top-to-base ratio stays balanced regardless of gate size.

Putting the decorative element at the top rather than the base is what makes this design distinctive — most gates that combine openwork and solid panels use the openwork above and the panel below out of habit, and doing the opposite gives the entrance a visually lifted quality that feels contemporary rather than traditional. The diagonal lattice band also catches shifting light differently from vertical or horizontal bars, so the top of the gate has a subtle visual movement through the day that a plain band would not. This style works particularly well on properties with tall or narrow openings where the eye needs something at the top of the gate to complete the frame, and against darker backgrounds where the pattern reads clearly. It is a more architectural alternative to designs that put all the visual interest in the base or the frame.
