Garden Gate Sizes — From 3ft Pedestrian to 6ft Tall

3ft to 4ft Garden Gates (914mm to 1219mm)

Ideal for decorative front garden entrances, pathway gates, and where you want a welcoming, traditional appearance without imposing on the streetscape.

5ft to 6ft Garden Gates (1524mm to 1829mm)

Do garden gates need planning permission?

Most domestic garden gates fall within permitted development rights. The general rule is up to 1 metre high if adjacent to a public road or footpath, and up to 2 metres high in all other locations. Always check with your local planning authority if your property is listed or within a Conservation Area.

Can garden gates be fitted with locks?

Yes. Every gate is supplied with an adjustable latch as standard and can be upgraded with padlock hasps, mortice locks, digital keypads, or magnetic catches depending on your security needs.

What size garden gate do I need?

For a standard front garden or pathway entrance, garden gates are typically between 3ft and 4ft high (900mm–1,200mm) and between 2ft and 4ft wide (600mm–1,200mm). For a driveway, you will need a larger pair of driveway gates. Simply measure your opening and we will make the gate to fit.

Are metal garden gates weatherproof?

Our metal garden gates are finished with a powder-coated finish suited to the UK climate. Steel gates are primed and powder-coated as standard, and aluminium gates are naturally corrosion-resistant.

Can garden gates be automated?

Smaller garden gates can be automated, though it is less common than driveway gate automation. For pedestrian gates, we can advise on suitable access control solutions including keypad or intercom entry systems.
