Description
These contemporary aluminium driveway gates split their face into two distinct tiers. The lower portion is filled with closely set horizontal slats that screen the drive for privacy, while the upper portion opens out into widely spaced horizontal rails that let daylight and sightlines through above head height.
That tiered approach gives the best of both worlds: solidity and seclusion where it counts near the ground, and an airy, open feel higher up that stops the gate from feeling like a barrier. The shift between dense and open is clean and horizontal throughout, so the two zones sit in easy visual agreement rather than competition.
Rendered in matt black, the two zones read as a deliberate, architectural stack rather than an afterthought, with a slim dividing rail marking the transition between them. The double-leaf layout carries the tiered pattern evenly across the central join for a balanced closed face.
Each set is built to your recorded opening, letting the height of the solid tier and the spacing of the open rails be balanced to suit your entrance and your preferred degree of privacy. Because the leaves are aluminium and therefore light, they can be automated without straining the motor, and the powder-coated finish keeps maintenance to a minimum.
From the road the open upper rails frame the house beyond, while up close the solid lower slats give a satisfying sense of enclosure at eye level for anyone standing at the gate. The design bridges styles comfortably, suiting the traditional brick and tile home shown here just as readily as a sharply modern frontage. The powder-coated finish resists chips and fade, so both tiers keep their crisp look with little more than a periodic rinse. As the frame is aluminium rather than iron, there is no rust to streak the solid lower slats, and matching side panels can carry the two-tier pattern along the boundary.
