Description

These ornate aluminium driveway gates combine two very different textures within a single dark frame. Across the upper band, a laser-cut panel traces a sweep of overlapping tropical palm and fern leaves, their fronds curling and interlacing to form a lace-like screen that daylight passes through, softening the boundary between gate and garden.

Beneath the foliage panel, the lower body switches to close vertical boarding finished with a weathered wood-grain effect, lending warmth and a tactile, natural feel against the crisp metal surround. The contrast of botanical cut-work above and solid timber-look planking below gives the design real depth from a distance, and a genuinely handmade character up close.

A slim horizontal rail separates the two zones cleanly, and the whole composition is squared off within a neat rectangular frame. As a double-leaf arrangement, the leaf motif reads continuously across both halves, so the pattern flows uninterrupted when the gates are closed and the drive is screened.

Manufacture is tailored to your measured opening, which lets the leaf panel be scaled so the fronds sit balanced across the full width rather than cropped awkwardly at the edges. Although the finish mimics timber, the core is rust-proof aluminium, so the wood-effect boards will never warp, split or rot the way real planking eventually would. The powder-coated surface is baked on for a tough, even skin that resists chips and scuffs, and a quick wipe is usually all it takes to bring it back to a freshly finished look. Should you wish, matching wood-effect side panels or railings can be produced to carry the same treatment along the boundary.

Up close, the intricacy of the cut foliage is the star; from the road, it resolves into a decorative crown floating above a solid base, an effect that suits both modern rendered homes and softer country frontages. Shifting the frame to a bronze or anthracite tone would push the natural, organic character even further while keeping the low-maintenance, powder-coated surface.
