Aluminium Sliding Gates
Aluminium sliding gates are the answer when a driveway has no room for a swing arc — whether the drive is short, slopes towards the house, or the parking space sits right behind the entrance. Instead of swinging open, the gate travels sideways along your boundary, so the full depth of your driveway stays usable. Every sliding gate we build is bespoke, manufactured in the UK to your exact opening, and finished in undercoat or powder-coated in the RAL colour of your choice. Cantilever or Tracked Aluminium Sliding Gates?
There are two ways a sliding gate can run, and the right one depends on your ground. A tracked sliding gate rolls on wheels along a ground rail set across the opening — a simple, solid system that suits level driveways. A cantilever sliding gate has no ground track at all: the gate is carried on rollers positioned to one side of the opening, so it glides clear of the surface. That makes cantilever the better choice where the ground is uneven, gravelled, or prone to collecting leaves and debris that would sit in a track.
Both systems need clear space to one side of the opening for the gate to slide back into — as a general rule, allow a little more than the width of the opening itself for a cantilever gate. When you enquire, tell us your opening width and how much room you have alongside it, and we will confirm what works before anything is manufactured.
Every One of Our Designs, Built to Slide
All designs from our aluminium driveway gates range can be manufactured as a sliding gate. If you have admired an arched top, a wood-effect plank, an ornate scrollwork pattern or a clean contemporary front elsewhere on our site, the same design can be engineered to slide — so choosing a sliding gate never means compromising on the look you wanted. If your driveway layout rules out sliding altogether, aluminium bi-fold gates fold within the opening instead, and aluminium 3/4 split driveway gates offer another way to work around a tight frontage.
Contemporary and Slatted Sliding Gates
Flat-topped contemporary designs, horizontal slats and vertical slats are natural sliding gate styles: their strong straight lines follow the gate’s travel, and slatted infill offers privacy without presenting a solid face to the wind on exposed sites.
Arched and Ornate Sliding Gates
Curved top rails, finials and decorative scrollwork can all be carried over onto a sliding frame, bringing traditional character to a modern operating system — a combination very few gate companies offer.
Why Aluminium Suits a Sliding Gate
A sliding gate works its hardware harder than a swing gate, and that is where aluminium earns its place. Because the metal weighs far less than steel or hardwood, the rollers, carriage and motor move a lighter load every single time the gate opens. The base of a sliding gate also lives close to the ground, where rainwater collects — and since aluminium cannot rust, there is no hidden corrosion creeping up from the bottom rail. The powder-coated surface simply needs a wash now and then.
Automation for Sliding Gates
Sliding gates and automation are a natural pair: the gate travels in a straight line, which suits motor drive perfectly, and many customers choose a sliding gate precisely because they want electric operation from day one. Our gates are built ready to take an automation kit, whether you automate immediately or leave it as a future upgrade. We recommend professional installation for any automated gate, and we can take care of the whole project — gate, groundwork and motor — in one visit.
Finishes and Colours for Sliding Gates
Choose undercoat if you prefer to paint on site, or a powder-coated finish in any RAL shade. Anthracite grey and matt black are the most requested colours for sliding gates, sitting naturally alongside modern render, cladding and dark window frames, while softer heritage shades suit period frontages.
