Frequently Asked Questions

What happens to the composite boards when a telescopic gate retracts?

The boards remain fixed within their individual gate leaves; they do not fold or bend. The framed sections travel past one another into a nested stack, so the opening can be cleared with a shorter parking length than a comparable one-piece arrangement. This is different from a corner sliding gate, whose sections follow a change in boundary direction.

Is the board thickness enough to calculate the space behind a composite telescopic gate?

No. The parked depth includes the complete framed leaves, their guides and the clearances between moving sections, not just the composite boards. A wall or fence directly behind the gate can therefore matter even where the boundary is long enough. Ask for the proposed stack dimensions and check them against both the opening-side length and the available depth.

What affects the quotation for a composite telescopic configuration?

The number of framed leaves, board layout, opening dimensions and coordinating hardware all contribute to the build. Matching the visible finish across several moving sections can also influence the specification. A standard composite slider is not a like-for-like price comparison unless the infill, frame, automation and installation scope match. Request a site-specific quotation rather than relying on a general telescopic surcharge.

Will a wood-effect pattern look continuous across the overlapping leaves?

Each leaf has its own frame and board edges, so the closed gate will still show divisions between the sections. The chosen board direction and frame proportions can help the design look coordinated, but a seamless grain match should not be assumed. Review the proposed closed appearance as well as the open, nested position before agreeing the infill layout.

Can composite boards cover the gaps between telescopic sections?

The meeting edges and spaces between leaves form part of the moving mechanism's clearance. They should not be bridged with additional boards or trim simply to hide a joint, as that could obstruct travel. If screening is important, discuss the sightlines and overlap in the closed position so the proposed arrangement addresses them without compromising the moving clearances.

Can one composite telescopic leaf double as a pedestrian gate?

Do not assume one leaf can be used independently like a hinged side gate: telescopic leaves are designed to travel as a coordinated set. Tell us if regular pedestrian access is needed alongside vehicle access. A separate pedestrian entrance, or an assessed partial-opening setting where suitable, may be more appropriate depending on the site layout and control system.
