An entrance gate is the gate at the main way into a driveway, property or site. UK Metal Gates makes entrance gates to measure in metal, aluminium and composite, in swing, sliding, bi-fold, telescopic, corner sliding and cantilever sliding styles. We supply, deliver and install them across the UK.
Types of entrance gate by how they open
Double swing entrance gates
Two gate leaves, each hinged on its own post, that meet in the middle when closed. They suit wider openings. See our metal driveway gates.
Single swing entrance gates
One leaf hinged at one side of the opening. They suit narrower openings. See our side gates.
3/4 split driveway gates
Two leaves of unequal width, so a smaller leaf can be opened without opening the whole gate. See our metal 3/4 split driveway gates and composite 3/4 split driveway gates.
Sliding entrance gates
Sliding gates move sideways along the boundary, so they need clear space beside the opening. See our sliding gates.
Cantilever sliding gates
Cantilever gates slide sideways with no track along the ground.
Corner sliding gates
These are for sites where the boundary turns a corner, so the gate slides along it. Compare the aluminium corner sliding gates range with metal corner sliding gates or composite corner sliding gates before selecting a material.
Telescopic gates
Telescopic gates open in nested sections that slide over one another, which takes up less space beside the opening. Explore the aluminium telescopic gates range for this arrangement.
Bi-fold gates
Bi-fold gates open by folding in sections. See our bi-fold gates.
Entrance gates by material

Our metal gates range covers driveway gates, side gates, sliding gates and more. See our metal gates and our wrought iron gates.
Aluminium entrance gates
Aluminium is rust-free. See our aluminium gates.
Composite entrance gates
Composite gates need less maintenance than real wood. See our composite gates.
Made to measure entrance gates
We make entrance gates to your measurements. Our gates are British manufactured, with over 500 designs to choose from. We can fabricate gates up to 15m in length and 4m in height.
Metal, aluminium and composite gates can be finished in any RAL colour.
Sales, manufacturing, installation and powder-coating all operate from our own workshop in Barking, and we have been in business since 1993.
Ready-made entrance gates
Ready-made gates in fixed sizes are also available alongside made-to-measure gates. Stock items are dispatched the same day.
How to choose an entrance gate
- Opening width: measure the gap between the posts or walls where the gate will sit.
- Space: swing gates need room to open, sliding gates need clear space along the boundary, and telescopic gates need less room to the side.
- Material: metal, aluminium or composite, as described above.
- Colour: any RAL colour is available on metal, aluminium and composite gates.
- Automation: any style can be automated if you want to open it with a remote control.
Automatic entrance gates
Any of the gate styles above can be automated. We supply and install motors from DEA, CAME, FAAC and Nice; an existing gate can also be motorised by our team.
Site survey and installation
Every entrance gate job starts with a visit to your site. Our team measures the opening itself, photographs the area and prepares a drawing of the gate, which you receive before anything is made or fitted. We supply, deliver and install nationwide.
