Description
Here is a design built around rhythm. Deep charcoal slats run horizontally across a series of framed folding panels, their even spacing letting light and glimpses of the courtyard pass through while still clearly marking the boundary. In the render the gates span a broad opening between stone pillars, fronting a converted brick building with an industrial character.
Each panel is individually framed, so the slat lines stay perfectly level across the full width even as the leaves articulate. An entry panel with keypad and intercom is shown mounted on the pillar, hinting at how naturally this style pairs with access control. Stone pillars, brick warehouse glazing and cobbles all read through the open slats, so the gate frames its setting rather than hiding it.
These contemporary aluminium bi fold gates suit exactly the kind of property pictured: wide entrances where a sliding track would be awkward and swing gates would demand too much room. The folding action stacks the panels neatly to the sides, keeping almost the entire driveway depth usable.
Aluminium keeps a multi-panel gate like this workable — in steel the combined weight across so many hinged sections would strain both hardware and motor, whereas these leaves stay light enough to fold effortlessly by hand or drive. That lightness also spares the hinge line: each pivot carries a modest share of the load, which keeps the folding action aligned and rattle-free over thousands of cycles.
The semi-open slat face also has a practical security benefit: the drive is screened from casual view without creating a solid wall that hides an intruder completely. Charcoal is shown, but the slats take any RAL colour, and each set is fabricated to the measured opening after survey. A matching pedestrian gate in the same slat pattern can complete the entrance if side access is needed.
