Description
These black composite driveway gates arrive as an asymmetric pair — a larger driveway leaf sitting alongside a compact pedestrian leaf — designed for openings where daily foot access matters as much as the occasional vehicle sweep. The colour is a deep, matt black that reads flat and modern against yellow-brick or painted-render frontages, and the horizontal slat direction pulls the eye across the full opening width rather than up.
What distinguishes this design is the shift in slat scale between the two leaves. The driveway leaf uses wide horizontal composite boards for a bold, chunky look, while the pedestrian leaf switches to narrower slats — the same colour and material, but a finer rhythm that visually separates the two functions. The result is a gate pair that reads as a single entrance rather than a mismatched set.
Each leaf is built with a metal frame carrying a wood-plastic composite (WPC) infill. The frame gives the gate its structural rigidity and takes the weight of the hinges, drop bolts and lock hardware. The composite panels do the visual work — they will not rot, splinter, warp or need painting the way real timber does, and a wash with soapy water is normally all that is required to keep them looking fresh.
The 3/4 split layout is a specific answer to a very common problem: driveways where the household walks through the entrance far more often than a car passes. Rather than opening the full width every time somebody carries the bins out, you use the narrow pedestrian leaf on foot and reserve the driveway leaf for vehicles. Drop bolts hold both leaves in place when closed, and the driveway leaf can be automated separately if you later want electric operation.
The WPC infill is available in a variety of colours beyond this black, allowing you to match the boards to your door, window frames or fence run. The metal frame can be specified in a coordinating finish. Every set is built to your measured opening rather than pulled from stock, so the driveway-to-pedestrian ratio can be adjusted to suit the site.
