Palisade Double Gates
A palisade double gate gives a commercial or industrial perimeter a wide, imposing vehicle entrance that matches the security and visual deterrent of a palisade fence line. We fabricate each one complete before it leaves us — made to your exact measurements, with nothing left to assemble on site once it arrives. Fabricated to Your Site, Not a Standard Width
Palisade gate kits are typically sold in fixed sizes, which can mean an awkward fit against a real opening. We build the other way round — from your actual opening dimensions — so the two leaves are proportioned to meet cleanly at the centre, whatever width and height your site calls for.
Pale Profiles and Head Styles
We work with the full range of palisade profiles, including W-section and D-section pales, and can finish the tops in whichever style suits your site: triple pointed for maximum anti-climb deterrent, single pointed, rounded and notched, or a plain rounded top where a slightly softer appearance is preferred without losing the fencing’s core security function. Fixings are set so pales can’t simply be unbolted from the outside of the perimeter.
Two Leaves for a Wide Opening
Splitting a wide opening across two leaves rather than one keeps each leaf a manageable size to open and close, meeting at a centre post or drop bolt when closed. The two leaves don’t have to match in width — if the opening sees regular pedestrian traffic alongside occasional vehicle access, an asymmetric double gate lets the smaller leaf handle daily foot traffic on its own.
Where Palisade Double Gates Are Used
Palisade double gates are a familiar sight at industrial estates, depots, utility and substation compounds, construction sites and any commercial perimeter where a strong, unmistakably secure entrance is wanted. Where visibility through the gate matters more than an imposing appearance — a school or hospital site, for example — our mesh double gates achieve the same wide, secure opening with a more open aspect.
Finishes
As standard, gates are hot-dip galvanised for corrosion resistance before anything else happens to them. On top of that, a polyester powder coat can be added in whatever RAL shade you need — black and green remain the traditional palisade colours, though we’re not limited to either.
Locking
Standard fittings include a slide latch bolt with drop bolts for securing each leaf independently, and padlock provision as standard. Let us know if you need a different access arrangement and we’ll advise on what suits a double gate of your size.
Nationwide Supply and Installation
Every palisade double gate we make is delivered complete and ready to hang, anywhere in the UK — and if you’d prefer not to handle the fitting yourself, our installation team can take care of that too. Get in touch on 0208 911 6000 to talk through your site.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the standard pale spacing on palisade gates, and can it be adjusted?
Pale spacing varies by model and security specification. Common configurations include close-boarded spacing for anti-climb security and wider spacing where visibility or airflow is preferred. Contact us with your site requirements and we can advise on the spacing available for your chosen design.
Can palisade double gates be matched to my existing fence run?
Yes. As a UK manufacturer we can customise pale profile, spacing, height and finish to match most existing palisade fencing. Providing a photo and a sample measurement of the pale pitch helps us confirm the closest match before production.
What opening width should I allow for vehicle access?
This depends on the vehicles using the entrance. We discuss exact measurements and tolerances with each customer before production to ensure a precise fit, including the clear opening required between the leaves when fully open.
Can palisade double gates be automated?
Yes. Swing and sliding motor kits can be added at the point of order or retrofitted later. Palisade gates are often paired with underground or ram-mounted rams; contact us to confirm the most suitable arrangement for your leaf width and weight.
Can the double gates be used in exposed or coastal locations?
We offer gate options suitable for coastal and exposed locations. Contact us to discuss your site so we can recommend the best design and construction for your conditions, including pale thickness and finish specification.
What finish options are available for steel palisade gates?
Standard supply is a galvanised undercoat with powder coating in black as the default colour. Other RAL colours, including anthracite grey, are available on request. Galvanising is offered as a standard finishing process for steel palisade gates.
Can I use my existing palisade gate posts, or will I need new ones?
This is often possible provided your existing posts are structurally sound, correctly sized and positioned for the new leaf weights and widths. Contact us with your post dimensions and hinge centres so we can check compatibility.
Why are palisade gates typically chosen over mesh or railings for security perimeters?
Palisade construction combines vertical steel pales with pointed tops and controlled spacing, which presents a more difficult climbing surface than mesh or flat railings while retaining sightlines through the gate. The rigid pale-to-rail build also resists forced bending better than lighter welded mesh panels.
Can each leaf be hung on either side, and does it matter which side?
Our double gates can be hung left or right-hand opening to suit your site layout. The active leaf is typically fitted with a drop bolt or locking point into the ground, so confirm which side you want as the primary opening leaf when ordering.
