Frequently Asked Questions

What are composite gates made from?

Composite gates use a heavy-duty steel or aluminium frame with infill boards made from recycled wood fibre and plastic. This combination gives the appearance of natural wood without any of the maintenance requirements — they will not warp, rot, or require painting.

Do composite gates need painting or staining?

No. Composite boards are coloured throughout their thickness and hold their colour for many years without any treatment. No painting, staining, or annual maintenance is required — an occasional wash-down is all that is needed.

Are composite gates more expensive than wooden gates?

Composite gates cost more upfront than basic timber gates. However, when you factor in zero maintenance costs (no repainting, treating, or replacing rotted boards) over 5–10 years, composite gates typically work out cheaper overall.

What composite gate colours are available?

We offer composite boards in oak, walnut, grey, anthracite, black and other popular colours. The metal frame can also be powder-coated to match or complement the board colour for a fully co-ordinated finish.
